Branding for Small Businesses
You’ve been enjoying a nice run as a small, independent business, specializing in out-of-the-ordinary items that sell very well for you. But then here comes Wal-Mart, or Office Max, or Bed Bath & Beyond, or Kroger or…. you get the idea. The Big Box guys seem to be opening everywhere and horning in on what you’ve been able to build for the last few years. Like it or not, if you’re a small business owner here in Richmond, you will have to compete against these guys. This holds true whether you’re an aspiring new home builder, the latest in the line of new craft breweries, the young website developer who is trying to crack Richmond’s creative community, the small out-of-town bank who is trying to make it’s mark in the Richmond market or Joe’s Pizza down on the corner. There’s always someone bigger and cheaper.
So, what do you do? How can you compete against their lower prices? The solution really is simple-DON’T! Don’t try to beat them on price because you never will. Beat them with your shopping experience. You just have to get people to like you. That’s all.
Let’s face it; people do business with people they like. They don’t want to buy their new car from a shyster salesman. And they aren’t going to continue using a dry cleaner that consistently destroys their clothes. So, obviously, you need to start by doing your job. And doing it well. If you do it well enough, you may eventually have people talking about you, in a good way. And that could be the start of building that killer brand.
If you’ve got a business, then you’ve got a brand. What you do with it is up to you. So, let’s build a fresh, new brand that will encourage folks to want to do business with you instead of those big guys.
We have a four-step plan that will help you do that. Get these steps right and, believe it or not, you’ll have the brand to blow away the big guys and never worry about them again.
Our goal is to help you be successful. And we’re very good at it!
